How fast is Wi-Fi download compared to cabled download?
If we assume a CTD with two external sensors is profiled to 100m (sampling at 8Hz) at 0.5m/s down and up takes 400sec (6.6 minutes), the CTD will collect 3200 samples. The table below shows the approximate number of seconds it would take to download a file with 3200 samples via RS-232, Wi-Fi, and USB connections. A general rule of thumb is Wi-Fi download time takes approximately 1s per 1min of CTD data collection at 8Hz.
